Kilcredan Ruined Church and Graveyard

Kilcredan Ruined Church and Graveyard

This place is about two miles from home. When I was small I’d pass it everyday heading to and from primary school. Some of my father’s mother’s ancestors are buried here. The church is an old 17th century Protestant church. This is the third painting of a graveyard I’ve done. Snow is a rare thing where I live so it’s featured in only a handful of my paintings. I had trouble doing the tree over on the far left and the walls of the church, they slowed me down a lot. Once I was on the bottom third of the painting I raced through it. The light coloured shadows of dirty purple and light blue were satisfying to paint.

Moonrise at Sunset – Sold

Moonrise at Sunset

Ever notice the eastern sky at a sunset? Sometimes you get lovely purples and blues in the sky especially during the winter. This painting records such a day and also the moon was rising at the same time, so you get a ‘Moonrise at Sunset’. Sold

Midwinter View of Garryvoe

Midwinter View of Garryvoe

In late December, 2009 a severe cold stretch of weather began that continued into early 2010. This painting records that time. Fortunately, because where I live is so close to the sea we were spared the worst of the snow and ice as can be seen from the fields, where muted greys and browns can be seen rather than a continuous blanket of white. This is my third painting in my series of painting the same view over four seasons.
